Accounting Specialist – Wilmington, Delaware (Optional Hybrid)


Job Summary

Process, reconcile, and correct a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, vendor statements, and journal vouchers; review and code financial information; prepare and process documents to disburse funds, make deposits and prepare reports; compile and review information for accuracy; and maintain records. Work is performed by applying knowledge of accounting rules and using spreadsheets and automated accounting systems.


Key Essential Functions

  • Book cash journal entries to the appropriate GL accounts.
  • Reconciles cash receipts with bank reports.
  • Map finished goods items to the correct GL accounts.
  • Ensuring employee expense reports comply with company policies. 
  • Processes accounts payable and new vendors. Reply to vendor inquiries for payments. Apply invoices against open purchase orders as appropriate.
  • Processes accounts receivable. Send monthly statements to those customers that request it.
  • Verifies items billed against items ordered and received and reconciles differences through follow-up with the vendor and/or other employees.
  • Reconciles cash receipts with bank reports.
  • Books all inventory transaction used for customer samples, development projects or customer complaints.
  • Ensures all customer accounts are current and follows up with customers to arrange payment of past due invoices. 
  • Enter, update and retrieve accounting data from automated systems.
  • Retrieve system reports, assign codes to data, file records and reports, operate standard office equipment.
  • Prepares all taxes forms need to file and pay personal property taxes.
  • Assist with paying all federal and state income taxes under the direction of Financial Reporting Manager and supplies outside CPA firm all relevant tax notices.   
  • Serves as a primary backup to Customer Service.  Inputs orders into the accounting system, notifies the warehouse, and gets the product shipped to the customer in a timely manner.


Required Education and Experience

High school diploma with 5 years’ relevant experience performing a broad variety of accounting and/or bookkeeping functions.


Preferred Education and Experience

Associates degree and five years’ relevant experience performing a broad variety of accounting and/or bookkeeping functions.


Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with office hours typically from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.


Annual Overnight Travel

Rotating attendance at the out-of-state annual National Meeting including a commercial flight.
